We’re wrapping up our time at Yaddo after a productive three week residency in Saratoga Springs, upstate New York. We are so grateful for this space to write, move, and reflect on our piece World After This One, and feel amped to bring this project to its final stages in 2023 with the generous support of Chicago Dancemakers Forum and their Lab Artists program.
When we get back to Chicago we’ll return to After School Matters to teach a followup workshop to the Sex, Gender & Sexuality 101 we led there this past summer. The second part of this series will move participants through some more detailed scenarios that educators might come up against in their classrooms, and will also include some tips and interventions from a few current ASM facilitators working with young trans and queer Chicagoans on the ground.
We’ll also join Bresha Meadows and Monica Cosby at the University of Illinois Chicago for a panel discussion on transformative justice and building public safety on college campuses without police, hosted by the Gender and Women’s Studies Program. We’ll close out the month by returning to our own political base of Dissenters to facilitate portions of their fall staff retreat, focusing on the transition back to in-person organizing as more students return to their college campuses.
It’s a lighter month after an eventful October, but we have a few more happenings to share before the year closes, so keep it locked!
