We’re on our way to San Juan, where we’ll be mounting the second installment of our Black Performance Exchange, Navegando lo Negro/Navigating Blackness!

We’re looking forward to a busy week at La Goyco, where we’ll be reconnecting with our loves from LaBoriVogue and EspicyNipples. We’ll be teaching a bilingual Intro to Prison Abolition workshop, sharing our in-progress piece World After This One alongside new work from Edrimael Delgado, and ending the program with an open jam session for voguers and bomberxs of all genders. View the full list of San Juan-based events here. If you donated to our 3AP campaign, look out for a digital postcard in the coming days!

When we return to Chicago we’ll be wrapping up our time as an artistic fellow with Young Chicago Authors. The cohort of teaching artists will join Kemi Alabi, Kay Ulanday Barrett, Wo Chan, and Caleb Luna for on open forum on how artists can strengthen their creative practice while staying true to their values and principals. The final session will culminate with the cohort performing the original movement and spoken word pieces they’ve been drafting over the course of the eight sessions, all of which will be filmed by an on-staff videographer, and used in promotional materials for YCA, and for the artists’ own professional documentation.

It’s been a truly epic summer, but the year isn’t over yet. We have some exciting fall announcements starting next month, so don’t sleep!
