In 2018, we led political education workshops for 14 different organizations, published 6 articles, facilitated 3 retreats for 2 collectives, completed 2 residencies, and premiered an excerpt of our new performance piece, World After This One. We hope to continue all of these efforts into the new year!
We are once again reaching a pausing point with our faves at Assata’s Daughters, as the Azubike fall session wraps up at the end of this month. We cannot express how much the youth leaders in this program have grown in their facilitation skills, and how often this fall they have taken our breath away with their insights, passion, and commitment to becoming stronger community advocates. We love them so much, and can’t wait to see what 2019 brings as they step more fully into their facilitator roles inside of AD!
We’re excited to share that the script of our performance piece Dancer As Insurgent will be published for the first time in the forthcoming bilingual anthology Elements of Vogue, an accompaniment to the exhibit by the same name, which premiered last fall at CA2M in Madrid. We remain proud to be a part of this evolving project, celebrating radical histories of resistance inside the ballroom scene, and grateful to the staff at CA2M for allowing us to share our work. More info about this publication will be available in the coming year!
If you’re looking for a way to give back for the holidays, we’d so appreciate you becoming a patron through our Patreon page, or sharing the page with others in your life, and helping us reach our goal of $200/month!
We’ll see you all in 2019!
